The Beginning

In the past two years we have had to move four times, as my son-in-law was in the Navy and I lived with them. As most people know moving is a very stressful time. All the packing up of boxes then the truck if you haven't hired movers, which we never have, and then the unloading and unpacking at a new location. This has been very tiring, stressful and expensive. We felt it was time for a change.

We have thought about a lifestyle change for some time now and have been trying to make it happen. We decided to become travel trailer residents. What do I mean you may ask. What I mean is we have decided to purchase trailers to live in. This way we always have our home with us and never have to pack or repack a thing. We understand that this type of living is not for everyone but we feel it is for us.

The cost to live in a travel trailer is substantially less than renting an apartment or house. We have the freedom of owning our own home without some of the downsides of home ownership. I have owned my own home before and the experience was less than stellar. As travel trailer living is not for everyone neither is home ownership.

The other upside is we would like to explore the country and living in a travel trailer allows us to do so. I know you are wondering how we can afford to live this way without a steady job. Well we have started our own business and with the cost being less for living in a travel trailer we are able to take on part-time or temporary jobs to keep money coming in. Also we won't be constantly moving around we will stay in some places for a period of time and that way we will save up money for the times we aren't working.

We eventually do want to buy a piece of land and maybe build a home there but for now travel trailering is the way to go for us.

This blog is set up to chronicle our lives and give the pros and cons and ups and downs we encounter. So please stay with us on our journey.
